We've been home from Ethiopia for one week now and many people have asked us: what's next? While we don't have our travel dates yet, here's the nitty gritty of what has to happen before we can bring Angelo home for good:
1. The adoption decree was created (Check!)
2. Ethiopia's Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs (MoWCYA) will send their recommendation letter. (This should be completed any day now)
3. Ethiopian birth certificate application (1 week)
4. Ethiopian passport (2 weeks)
5. U.S. Embassy Medical Evaluation (1-12 weeks)
6. U.S. Embassy can request clarification or additional documents if they wish
7. Visa clearance - Embassy visit scheduled
We may have as little as 1 weeks notice of travel but we have been told we can expect the time frames above to be on the shorter end which is encouraging!
