Mundane Faithfulness

"What will you do in the days of mundane faithfulness?" Asked Martin Luther. I was recently reminded of this phrase here, though our days around here have been anything but mundane. Angelo seems to be growing every minute and doing new things that make us prouder about saliva on the stairs and fish on the floor than we ever thought possible.

Even so, in the midst of all of the joys and novelties, there are reminders that pull me back to the "dailyness" of life. Dishes need to be washed, meals need to be planned, bills need to be paid, cars need to be repaired. Conflicts need to be resolved, teeth need to be brushed, behavior needs to be corrected, goals need to be set, appointments need to be made.

In all of these "mundane" things (can't we just giggle* with our little one all day?), I have a choice. I can brisk at the interruption and let my heart sour, or I can embrace each daily task with the intent of faithfulness. For my Father-God, for the joy of my soul, for the instruction of my children.

This is where I need Him now.

God is revealing himself to me as the One who is faithful in the daily things of life - even (and especially) when I struggle. He wants to meet me - here.

O come let us adore Him.
